AirTN Thematic Forum 1, Single European Sky

The Background

Air traffic analysis are showing an increasing demand on the ATS capability. The integration of the NMS in Europe and their economic development is provoking remarkably high air traffic growth predictions.

Fostering co-operation to facilitate the harmonisation of ATM structures and latest CNS technologies is therefore an essential development to meet the rising demand.

Additional national activities may comprise research and development as well as preparatory work for introducing harmonised infrastructures to support the implementation of the Single European Sky.

The Single European Sky and other ATM related topics will be supervised by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) which will ensure the coordination with the ATM Master Plan and R&TD Programme delivered within the SESAR Definition Phase.

The Content

  • How the concept adresses Single European Sky policy.
  • Provide a detailed view of the operational concept targeted for the 2020 time horizon.
  • The research work programme to deliver the concept.
  • Beyond SESAR the next Steps towards the HLTCs.
