Workshop Programme
The final workshop will be held at the Delft University of Technology on 20-21 November 2007 where the
results of the Action Group will be demonstrated on the SIMONA (SImulation, MOtion and NAvigation)
research simulator in the faculty of Aerospace Engineering. A detailed programme will be made availabe
for download on this page close to the event.
On Tuesday 20 November, a series of technical talks will be given by the researchers
involved in the Action Group. These will describe in more detail the underlying ideas behind the fault
tolerant control schemes which have been tested and applied to a challenging benchmark based on a
reconstructed accident scenario. The presentations will provide insight into state-of-the-art Fault
Detection and Isolation and Fault Tolerant Control (FDI/FTC) ideas applied to aerospace systems. The
programme of this day is oriented towards an audience with a more technical or engineering
background.
On Wednesday 21 November, the results of the Action Group will be presented and
demonstrated aimed at a wider audience. The programme for this day will include:
- An overview of the activities of the Action Group
- A tour of the SIMONA facility
- An evaluation of the different fault tolerant control schemes by experienced
commercial transport pilots
- A live demonstration of one of the designs running on SIMONA, which will be
set up to replicate the reconstructed dynamics of a stricken Boeing B747
aircraft associated with the 1992 Amsterdam Bijlmermeer aircraft accident.

Evaluation of GARTEUR FM-AG16 Fault Tolerant Flight Control techniques in the Delft University
SIMONA Research Simulator based on reconstructed failure mode scenarios.
